Xi Zeng, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow

Xi joined the Lee lab in August 2022 as a postdoctoral fellow. He obtained his PhD in Biomedical Sciences in 2018 from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and then became a faculty member in the department of Bioinformatics at Huazhong Agricultural University in China. He also worked as a junior bioinformatician at BGI-Shenzhen for a few years before his PhD studies. His previous work mainly focused on the integration of viral DNA into the host genome and their relationships with human diseases. During his PhD studies and later research, he developed computational methods (HIVID and HIVID2) to detect precise viral integration loci on the host genome and applied them to discover the roles of viral integration in cervical and liver cancers and others. In the Lee lab, he studies transposon-associated genomic changes in various human conditions.
