Eunjung (Alice) Lee, PhD

Alice is an Associate Professor in the Division of Genetics and Genomics at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School, and an Associate Member of the Broad Institute. She leads a research program focusing on the role of transposable elements and somatic mutations in various human conditions. She serves on the Editorial Board of MobileDNA, a journal dedicated to transposons. Alice is the recipient of the NIH Director's New Innovator Award (DP2), an NIH Career Development Award (K01), the SUHF Young Investigator Award, and a Charles Hood Foundation Research Award. Her lab has also been supported by the Paul G. Allen Frontiers Program, the Manton Center for Orphan Disease Research, and AT Children's Project.

She received her B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science and a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics mentored by Doheon Lee from KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology). She also studied systems biology under the guidance of Trey Ideker at the University of California, San Diego during her Ph.D. studies. She then completed her postdoctoral training under the mentorship of Peter J. Park at Harvard Medical School, where she reported somatic retrotransposition in human cancers and in the human brain by developing computational methods for whole genome and single-cell sequencing data.
