Our Matters Arising article was accepted by Nature

Congratulations to Junho, Boxun, and August! Our rebuttal to a recent Nature paper that reported extensive somatic APP recombination/retrotransposition in neurons of aging and Alzheimer's brains was accepted by Nature as a Matters Arising article (a preprint is available https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/706788v2). Our reanalysis of the original data and our own single-cell sequencing data revealed no evidence of somatic APP recombination, and surprisingly revealed that the original authors' observations have resulted from contamination by APP vectors, PCR products and mRNA. We think our work is a cautionary tale about  contamination not only in somatic APP recombination but also in genomic studies of somatic mutations of any kind.
